It is very pleasant and peaceful, Being Here Now, though it can slip through our fingers quite easily. Here one moment, and gone the next. Let us see what we can learn about Being Here Now :-)
Be Here Now, Building the Impossible Bridge, Crossing the Vast Ocean. Hanumanji is now returning from his scouting mission in Lanka with news of Mother Sita. He arrives to the great relief of Lord Rama, who was in a state of despair, separated from Sita, but now revived with a new hope, he can once again Be Here now with his sense of purpose. As they were discussing how they would cross the vast ocean with such a huge army, they are visited by some unlikely quests, Vibhishan and his retainers. Vibhishan, younger brother of Ravan, has been exiled for his insistent reminders of the great violation of dharma in Ravan stealing another man's wife. Many see Vibhishan as an enemy, and there is great controversy in whether to kill him or not. Fortunately, Hanumanji met and gained trust in Vibhishan as a fellow devotee of Lord Rama. Therefore Sri Hanuman recommends that he is to be trusted to Lord Rama. Sri Rama, Being Here Now recognizes the great potential to further the cause of dharma in Vibhishan. And, just like Rama crowned Sugriv Lord of Kishkinda, the Kingdom of ape men, Sri Rama crowns Vibhishan Lord of Lanka. After the celebration, they have another council on how they would cross the ocean, and Vibhishan suggests paying homage to the sea god. Rama gives penance to the god of the sea for 3 days, and after that when, there is no response from the sea god, Rama chastise the god for its unwillingness to return the debt that it owns the Raghu clan, Rama's clan, for its very existence. Sri Rama announces that the god will be punished. Getting ready to shoot an arrow into the vast sea, one that would leave the sea barren because of the great spiritual power at Lord Rama's command, the sea god finally answers, claiming it was fear that prevented it from answering earlier. Once again, not reacting but responding in a state of Here Now even when upset, Sri Rama listens to the god's plea. The sea god reveals a way that the army might cross the great expanse of it waters. Two ape men in the company, Nala and Neel, had been given a the power to make stones float. The sea god said that as they build a bridge of rocks, he will hold them up across the entire distance to Lanka. And so the great work begins...
Do we have a great work in progress? Are we not sure how to begin? Or do we know and are just reluctant to start? What is standing in our way? Do we have a clear vision of our goal? Through this work will we be able to right a wrong, or fix a problem? Is this the work of the ego, or the work of the Lord? Depending on our source of inspiration and end goal, our work can be very easy or difficult.
Practice in Building the Impossible Bridge, Crossing the Vast Ocean. The bridge is both the great work that we undertake and the Way to our goal. It may seem impossible if our faith is not strong in the Lord, in the good that will result as we achieve our goal. Nala and Neel the great architects of the Impossible Bridge wrote the name of Ram on every rock to ensure success in the Lord. With the Lord as our inspiration and focus there is no task that is impossible! We are invited to take up the mission Impossible for the Lord. It could be a mission of forgiveness, of kindness, of generosity, of duty, etc. As long as we align our will with that of the Lord, we can do amazing things! Jai Sri Ram! :-)
Thank you for Being Here Now with me my dear friend, my brother and sister in the Lord :-) You are invited to join me next time for Arrival in Lanka, the Mercy of the Lord, Message of Angadha.
