The first one had mixed emotions. She loved all of the cheer and the joy that came with being together with family and friends. She loved to be able to give gifts and make many nice foods to enjoy with them. However, it was also difficult for her to pay for all of the expenses. This leads me to the next customer's reaction. Basically, it boiled down to she believed Christmas had become too commercialized, there was not enough focus on the true meaning of the holidays.
I have definitely felt this conversation inside of myself in my mind and felt the mixed feelings of joy, anxiety, gratefulness, giving, and frustration in my heart. So how do we move more toward self love when we are dealing with this uneasiness? For years and years, I just let be with experiencing all the good and the bad of this spectrum while letting it effect my thoughts, words, and actions.
But I know in my heart it is possible to align more with the good. The realities around us are not going to change overnight, so the answer that I came to was loving myself more, enjoying the present joys, and constantly making an effort to push myself beyond my limits of what I am comfortable with in giving through the spirit of love, peace, and joy.
I still don't give as much as I wish I would or do as much for others as I wish I would do, but I have to come back to the reality that in order to love others, I need to keep loving myself. We are enough just as we are right now at this very moment, and we are moving more in line with love because the more we are loving ourselves, the more we will naturally become love. The more that we naturally become love, the more that the world around us will notice and allow us to express more outward forms of love in the ways that we give of our own time and treasure, which will also increase or be augmented with our ability to love and give. This really just requires faith, and regular practice from what I have learned through my faith practice and studying self development.
These are some resources that talk about attracting more love, abundance, and joy into our lives.
Firstly, I find the spirit of the season through my savior, Jesus Christ. It is really inspiring to have a time when the world reflects on who He is and what He has brought the world. No matter what shape, form, or expression that people find Him in during Christmas, Jesus Christ, who is Love, is at this holiday's heart. God is a personal experience unique to each of us, but all roads lead to Love. This song that reflects how I traditionally see God expressed during Christmas, and serves as a good affirmation of that truth.
