Yoga is a life of discipline based on the tenets of simple living and high thinking. The body is viewed as a temple or vehicle of the soul. This vehicle requires specific care in order to operate smoothly and gain the highest millage. The metaphor of an automobile can help explain. An automobile requires a lubricating system, battery, cooling system, fuel, and a competent driver.
Yogis view life as a triangle birth, growth, change, old age, and death. The growth phase of the early years continues on average till 18 or 20 years of age and is dominated by anabolic process of cell growth and regeneration over catabolic process of cell decay. 20 to 35 on average makes a period of equilibrium between these processes. After 35 on average catabolic cell decay becomes dominate eventually leading to old age and the accompanying ills and despair. Yogis believe that life is meant for more than pain, suffering, disease, and death. However it takes a strong will and keen intellect to pursue the spiritual goal of life and true fulfillment. The sages invented an integral system in order to ward off the catabolic effect of cell decay. The system of yoga is a simple and natural program that is based on 5 points: proper exercise (asana), proper breathing (pranayama), proper relaxation (savasana), proper diet (vegetarian), and positive thinking and meditation (vedanta and dhyana). Proper exercise (asana) is the lubricating routine for the muscle, joints, ligaments, tendons, and other body parts increasing circulation and flexibility. Proper breathing connects the body to its battery, the solar plexus which contains a tremendous amount of potential energy. Through the use of specific yoga breathing techniques (pranayama) we can tap this energy for mental and physical rejuvenation. Proper relaxation (savasana) is like the cooling system of an automobile. As the car overheats the cooling system maintains its working efficiency. As the body and mind become overworked relaxation is natures way of cooling and maintaining the efficiency of the body and mind. Proper diet (vegetarian) is the correct fuel for the body, optimized use of food, water, and air. Positive thinking and meditation (vedanta and dhyana) puts you in control. The intellect is purified. The lower nature is put under conscious control through exercises in steadiness and concentrating the mind.

AuthorMy name is Aaron Szczurek, and I am making this blog to connect to other people so that we can create a place where we can learn how to be better lovers of our selves. I have been inspired by my Catholic faith, thought leaders, and many wonderful wise people in my life to learn to be a better lover of myself, so that I can be a better lover of those closest to me and the world. The golden rule from the new testament is, "Love your neighbor as yourself." This is the secret to happiness and success in the world. The most powerful message given by God. But how many of us truly love and accept ourselves for just who we are right now, the good and the bad behavior. Louse Hay said it very well, "Love is never outside yourself, it is within. As you love yourself more, you will be more able to love." And the more love that you are able to give, the more that you will be able to receive. Let's help each other on our journey of self love and self fulfillment. Because as Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, and other great men and women have indicated, separation is an illusion, everyone is connected through each other in love as one. Archives
