Before we begin this week's adventure, I would like once again to thank my dear friend, Anna Liwinska! This night was allot more fun and exciting with her by my side! She brought many smiles, laughs, and insight into the places we visited along our journey of Szczecin at night that truly made the experience a joyful one for me! As always, her love of photography inspired me to appreciate the places we visited much more, searching for the details that would bring out an artistic image, I found so much beauty! Dzienkuje, moja droga przyjaciolka! English: Thank you my dear friend! :-) Now let me invite you on the journey as well! :-)
6) Cafe 22. Our journey there started walking by sidewalk past lighted window fronts and street lights that guided our way, through side streets that hid even more storefronts and apartments, until we finally arrived at the building entrance of Plac Rodla 8 a business skyscraper. We took an elevator up eventually arriving at the 22 floor. Cafe 22 is a very beautiful restaurant, art gallery, music stage, and bar. The interior design is very modern but also has a nostalgic flare to it. We could see many wonderful sights in the city from above as we walked around the circular cafe. I felt like I was in a very high class establishment when I was there (More of Szczecin's cityscape for the cafe windows). When it came time to sit down and enjoy I was very impressed with the presentation of the delicious rich and creamy cocoa I ordered! Cafe 22 is definitely a great place to visit if you are ever in the neighborhood of Szczecin Poland! Two Thumbs up! :-)
7)The Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Philharmonic. After visiting the cafe we walked around a bit a midst the lively night lights of traffic signals, business signs and fronts, national monuments and treasures until we can to a building which almost seemed alive! A wall of lit panels turned on an off in a wave like pattern as many onlookers stood by! Green, yellow, blue, magenta, and white, the lights would change between these various colors! It was very amazing to watch! :-) In side it was like walking into a modern art gallery. Here is a projection wall piece that we saw as we walked in. After looking at the downstairs lounge cafe area, we came to a very interesting piece. Personally, it was my favorite! I even tried it out! Yes, it was interactive! :-) First we saw a bin of black balls at the bottom of a spiraling stair case. What could these be for? Then we heard a strange modulating sound drawing near and a ball rolling down a rail that ran along the inside of the stair case! Wow, what was that! Kerplunck, it goes in the bin! Then another and another! So we climb the stairs. There at the top is someone speaking into something that looked similar to an old style radio microphone. And another ball starts its journey down! ...Can I try! And we both did!
8) Szczecin at night. Next we walked around a bit. There were so many interesting light decorations built into the walkways! Here are a few spots that we took some time to enjoy. The first was right near the Philharmonic, a light that shot up from the ground, making a perfect spooky face creator! Here is me and Anna! The second spot was a large stone walkway that used to be the home to a small market place. The way lead us along with a trail of illuminated boxes (close up), very cool, like being in a modern art piece! At the end of the trail was several flowering bushes that provide a nice backdrop for a photo! Here is Anna and me (Przepraszem for the blurry photo, Anna)! There was also a huge sundial, which was definitely worth investigating. Next we did some sight seeing of different buildings from the outside, like the cafe 22's business tower and a really large colorful modern shopping center. We also saw both of the old gate buildings at night, the chocolate shop and the theater, both very spooky and classic, causing one to stare and wonder about the story behind such beautifully intricate relief sculptures. And then we came into an area that was filled with allot of classic architecture. Here are three sights we saw. An interior design school, music school, and fountain in the shape of Szczecin's symbol, the griffin. The last stop that we visited was the fountain in front of the military church we visited earlier. The light illumination really transformed it into something even more magical! Here are some of the different color changes 1 2 3.
Thank you so much, my friend, for coming along with me on this journey through Szczecin at night or Szczecin w Nocy! I hope that you found the same joy and wonder that I did as we traveled through the transformed city of Szczecin! Many joys to you as you journey through the wonders that are relieved as night falls! Of course, be careful not to walk into danger, stay informed! Never walk alone! May we find the awe and merriment of life as something we have already seen is revealed to us through passage of time renewed! Milego dnia! Niech przygod i radosc pozdrawiam was dzisiaj i zawsze! Translates to, “Have a great day! Let adventure and joy greet you today and always!” Love, Aaron :-)
